Hiroyuki Sanada plays a main role in Chinese movie “WuJi - The Promise”

<Interview in Beijing>

Q:  How do you feel about the Oscar nomination of the two of your movies (“The Last Samurai” and “The Twilight Samurai”)?

S:  The bigger the risk, the higher the mountain, my feeling of accomplishment is bigger.  So the fact that these two movies I was involved were nominated makes me really appreciate these opportunities, and I want to utilize it for my future acting career.


Q:  What do you think of the new movie, “WuJi -The Promise”?

S:  I believe that it will become a great project to show the world about Asia.


Q:  Could you speak something in Mandarin?

S:  No, no, all I can do is self introduction yet.  “My name is Hiroyuki Sanada.  Nice to meet you.”  (In Mandarin, and shy laugh.)  This is it, I am embarrassed.


S:  I want to look for the risky mountains, and want to go around the world searching for them.  This time again, I will work hard with all my might, so I can go back to Japan with pride.  “Thank you.”  (In Mandarin)
